Joanne (17) was referred to us by her GP, who had noted concerns about her reports of feelings of social isolation and feeling increasingly depressed coupled with her losing a significant amount of weight since her last visit to the doctors. She had previously been prescribed with anti depressants following the death of her grandmother 2 years earlier.

Our daughter got referred to LCAT around December 2012. From the minute we arrived, Sally and Nicky made us feel really welcome. Our daughter was a bit scared as she didn’t know what to expect. For the first few sessions we sat as a family for the first 20 minutes and had a chat with Nick, then she would take our daughter and go and work with the animals. We would wait in a lovely room where we had access to tea and coffee. After each session we would all sit down again and have a chat. We would go every week for about 4 months and each session was about an hour and a half.

Nicky has been amazing with our daughter and working with the animals she has increased her confidence. Without LCAT, I do know how our family would have got through the problems we had.

After going every week for about 4 months, our sessions got reduced to going monthly. Our daughter got very close to all of the animals and even got to name one of the rabbits – and felt she could tell Nicky anything.

Now our sessions have officially finished, our daughter can go anytime she likes to help out for a few hours. The hardest job in the world is being a parent and with the help of LCAT we are now a very happy family, who have a changed daughter.

Thank you so much Sally and especially Nicky for all of your help and support. A first class service.

LCAT have worked within my school for over two years delivering pupil counselling and family support work and play therapy.

During their work here, LCAT have managed to persuade even the most reluctant parents and pupils to engage with school, and developed good relationships with pupils, families, staff and other agencies.

LCAT team members have made a positive difference to the outcomes of all the pupils with whom they have worked in terms of attitude, attendance and learning behaviours, which have all impacted on individual pupil results. More importantly, the work which they have carried out has supported the emotional well being and confidence of the individual pupils.

We are a large urban school, in an area of high deprivation and have many families who are involved with Children’s Services and LCAT is able to work with families in crisis without prejudice or judgement. LCAT have also been involved in the whole referral process including the completion of the Common Assessment Framework and attendance at Core Assessment meetings, Conferences and Multi-Agency Review Meetings. At all of these meetings LCAT have been thoroughly professional - focussing on the needs of the child.

Nicky and her LCAT team have supported my school extremely well, and I thoroughly recommend their services. If financially possible, I would employ them full time!

LCAT have worked with children and parents at our school for over 3 years now. In that time they have supported parents with behaviour management, school attendance, financial and housing issues and general parenting advice as well as working with targeted children here.

LCAT has provided play therapy and one-to-one sessions with many children in their work here. Staff and parents notice an amazing difference as a result of LCAT’s work and the improvements in attendance, punctuality and behavior are fantastic. We could not manage without LCAT now and cannot recommend them highly enough.
